The Desert Kingdoms
Follow the stories of ancient Arabia through Al Jouf and Hail, where kingdoms, caravan routes and living traditions still shape the land.
Wilderness & Adventure
Journey into the wild heart of Hail, where granite mountains, desert traditions and vast night skies reveal another side of northern Arabia.
Shadows of Aja is an escape into the wilderness of northern Arabia, moving from Hail’s red and purple granite mountains and hidden trails to the palm-filled landscapes of Al Qassim.
In the Aja Mountains, guests leave the railway behind for an immersive wilderness experience shaped by mountain exploration, Arabian horses, art, music, fire and storytelling. The traditions of Hail come to life through riders and horsewomen, poets, drummers and local hosts, while contemporary sound and landscape art bring a new Saudi expression to the mountains.
After dark, the desert sky becomes part of the journey. Guided by specialist astronomers, guests discover how travelers once navigated by the stars before exploring constellations, planets and celestial stories, with each departure shaped by the moon, season and night sky.
In Al Qassim, the rhythm softens beneath the date palms. Encounters with farmers, artisans and storytellers reveal the region’s cultivated traditions, culminating in The Oasis Table, a farm-to-table experience of regional produce, Saudi coffee, dates, live cooking, poetry and storytelling.
Seasonally, the journey may extend to Al-Awshaziyah, where the salt landscape transforms into an extraordinary white expanse.
From wild mountains and star-filled skies to green oasis and white salt landscapes, Shadows of Aja reveals the remarkable contrasts of northern Arabia.
